Takes me back to that April night in 77 down at the Coliseum in Charlotte. Back then general admission was the norm and I always worked my way to the front. I had this girl on my shoulders and between songs she begged a sip of Ronnie’s beer of which I also took a drink before she handed it back. 6 months later he was gone. But the band has carried on God bless em. We will never forget Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-17956479020917726152022-08-10T02:58:45.567-07:002022-08-10T02:58:45.567-07:00Hello Iain, by all means publish my speech on your...Hello Iain, by all means publish my speech on your LS site. He & Allen basically learned to play guitar together. They taught themselves & each other, in the beginning they didn't jnow much abt playing guitar exceot that they wanted to, Allen never wanted to play lead guitar, oretty ironic I would say. No two guys, ever worked harder to learn to play. Ronnie said I will take 2 not go good guitarists let them teach and feed off each other & maybe I will get one great guitar player, he got two.
Leave Gary in peace man, he is doing what he loves & what his friends no longer canAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00597394121953759136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-39551652871815140032021-06-26T15:43:31.837-07:002021-06-26T15:43:31.837-07:00So what it's 2021 skynyrd is stillSo what it's 2021 skynyrd is still Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07881535535979033903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-47129949870935955872020-12-03T09:49:57.090-08:002020-12-03T09:49:57.090-08:00I wss the backstage manager for the show at the Ho...I wss the backstage manager for the show at the Hollywood Sportatorium on Oct 17 1977..gave my Street Survivors rebel flag from that show to Peter Keyes recentlyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11358625055562925486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-9587989563992717282020-03-07T08:03:32.453-08:002020-03-07T08:03:32.453-08:00But look at what travels today, as Lynyrd Skynyrd....But look at what travels today, as Lynyrd Skynyrd. We can only imagine what could have been.
I still listen to the music offered by the 73-77 lineups daily....not only because it rocks like a motherfucker, but because it takes me back to the music that was the soundtrack of my late teens and early 20s.
The 73-77 lineups of Lynyrd Skynyrd was and still is my favorite band. I also give much credit to Gary Rosssington for keeping it going and bringing Skynyrds music to new generations of new fans.....and old ones alike.
Thanks again Chris.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03363935875205557920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-80065827290624649012015-06-27T05:36:47.955-07:002015-06-27T05:36:47.955-07:00BTW Chris,

No mean feat given their earlier Tom Dowd production. That album, in many ways, was a whole heap better than anything they'd done previously. I was already looking forward to their next offering. They were clearly on the brink of something incredible.Mickey P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09465481718047448681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2960772098173697898.post-85016920421314440242014-08-26T07:56:23.978-07:002014-08-26T07:56:23.978-07:00I saw Skynyrd at Finsbury Park Rainbow, two nights...I saw Skynyrd at Finsbury Park Rainbow, two nights on the trot, a few weeks before the crash. They were superb, taking to the stage to the theme from 'The Big Country' and crashing in to 'Working For The MCA'. I had the Freebird refrain ("Play it pretty for Atlanta.") played on a church organ while we signed the register. Great band, great memories and a great read Chris! ;-)Mickey P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09465481718047448681noreply@blogger.com
